Power Surge Causes Temporary Closure of Kelowna Waterpark

If you were hoping to cool off in Rutland, it won’t be at Ben Lee Waterpark.

The waterpark is being temporary closed after a power surge damaged the water pumps and other electrical equipment. Crews are at the park to look at the damage, and they’ve already started repairs to get the spray park open again.

An update is supposed to be posted later Tuesday on the City of Kelowna’s parks page with an estimated time of re-opening.

If you were really set on some summer fun at a spray park, you can always try the City Park Waterpark at 1600 Abbott Street or Quilchena Waterpark at 347 Quilchena Drive.

Check the parks page for more info on waterparks and beaches to beat the heat. You can also check out KelownaNow’s list of six things to do hat also keep you out of the sun on those +30°C days.
