Laura Martini, from Martini Yoga, will be hosting a yoga class at the Kelowna Yacht Club on Monday, May 23 from 7-9 p.m. to raise money for the prevention of the extinction of elephants and protection of the creatures which she has a soft spot for.

Over 60 students have registered for the Sip’n’Stretch session so far, which includes an hour and a half sunset yoga flow with a relaxing glass of wine on the patio to follow.

This fundraiser comes after multiple reports of abused elephants around the world, and other people in B.C. stepping up to help the gentle giants.

Martini, who is a local instructor, will be teaching the class and donating all the money she raises to the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand.

The park is an elephant sanctuary, which cares for orphaned, abused and injured Asian elephants.
