Community comes together to help with flooding

The community came together Saturday afternoon to help those affected by the flooding along Mill Creek. Burne Avenue, off of Ethel St., is closed on either side, but there were people out on the streets and wading through flooded yards trying to pitch in where they could.

One resident said they had some flooding causing water damage five years ago, but nothing like this. With over two feet of water filling their backyard, slowly creeping up the back step, there's only so much he can do to try and redirect it back to the creek.

There was a table set out with Tim Horton's snacks and coffee to keep people going, and a constant stream of people filling and carrying sandbags to where they were needed most. Response teams from Total Restoration were on site trying to get water out of basement suites and prevent further damage to the homes.
