‘Chain-reaction collision’ sends 2 vehicles crashing into Rutland Pita Pit

More than just vehicles were damaged in a multi-vehicle crash in Rutland on Monday afternoon.

Around 4 pm, first responders were called to the 100 block of Hwy 33 where two vehicles had crashed into Rutland Pita Pit.

To determine that happened, Mounties spoke with witnesses and the occupants of all involved vehicles, as well as reviewed surveillance and dash cam footage from the area.

“Investigators believe that a chain-reaction collision occurred because of one vehicle cutting off another after they turned onto Hwy 33,” Cpl. Steven Lang told KelownaNow.

According to the Kelowna RCMP, there’s potential for enforcement under the Motor Vehicle Act once all information is collected and reviewed.

Along with damage to the vehicles and building, minor injuries were reported to an unspecified number of people.
