(Update: May 26, 2024 @ 2:00 pm) - A majority of the first responders have vacated the scene of a Sunday morning fire.
According to the Kelowna Fire Department, the blaze in the 1900 block of Kent Road at PM Automotive started around 9 am.
When crews first arrived, black smoke and flames were reported from the roof of the building and the fire was upgraded to a “general alarm.”
Nearly all of the crews have since departed, and as of early this afternoon, a few apparatus remain, including a City of Kelowna vacuum truck.
The intersection of Kent and Bredin Roads is partially open, with traffic moving slowly in the area around safety cones.
(Original story: May 26, 2024 @ 10:45 am)- A large plume of smoke was visible in the middle of Kelowna after a fire broke out at a local auto shop late Sunday morning.
The Kelowna Fire Department is on the scene at PM Automotive on Kent Road.
At one point flames were visible from the roof of the building as a crowd grew nearby to witness the blaze.
First responders have closed the intersection of Kent and Bredin Roads.
The Kelowna RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services and FortisBC are at the scene alongside the KFD.
When asked about the details of the fire, a police officer said no information was available at the time.
