If you’re wondering why the popular Garage clothing store in Orchard Park Mall was closed earlier in the week, it was out of an abundance of caution.
KelownaNow has learned from a reader that at least one person who works at Garage has a close connection to people that work at both Cactus Club and Pace Spin Studio.
Since both Cactus Club and Pace Spin Studio were identified as spots of exposure where staff working on certain days were at risk, contact tracing led health officials to Garage.
Garage closed down for one day to do a fully disinfect and clean the store.
Because of quick contact tracing and the retail store in Orchard Park Mall being a more controlled environment than Cactus Club or Pace, Interior Health determined there wasn’t any risk to the public.
That’s why Garage wasn’t named as a potential exposure spot alongside the other two locations, or the Discovery Bay Resort or Boyce Gyro Beach Lodge.
“Interior Health will name locations where there is potential for significant exposure and a timely contact tracing is not possible,” IH CEO Susan Duncan told KelownaNow on Wednesday.
The clothing store is back open in Orchard Park Mall.
