You will likely see quite a few people in great costumes wandering around downtown Kelowna this weekend.
That’s because New Vintage Theatre’s Kelowna Fan Experience (KFX) is returning for its 11th year from Friday, March 22, until Sunday, March 24.
The Comic Con-style pop culture festival will take over Kelowna’s Cultural District over three days of events at the Black Box Theatre, Okanagan Regional Library and, new this year, the Innovation Centre.
“We can’t wait to celebrate Kelowna’s first and oldest pop culture event,” said Bonnie Gratz, KFX’s artistic director. “Press, super fans and members of the public are invited to dress up, come out and join in the pop culture party!”
A release from KFX touts the festival as “an explosion of performance, film, cosplay, animation, art, gaming, comics, horror movies and more.”
This year’s event will feature a meet and learn with local and international celebrity guests, including Hollywood Marvel movie star Jett Klyne.
Things will kick off Friday night with a video game trivia contest and screening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie at the Innovation Centre.
Arguably the most highly-anticipated event will be Saturday, as the cosplay contests give people of all ages a chance to dress up as their favourite pop culture characters.
Vendors and artists from all over British Columbia will be in town to give KFX attendees a chance to score some great collectables as well.
All the information you need on KFX 2024 is online, which is also the place to grab your weekend or daily tickets. Kids under 10 get in free with a ticketed adult.
