Kelowna Mounties investigating early morning shooting on Chapman Place

Kelowna Mounties are investigating a shooting that happened in the south central area of town early Monday morning.

Shortly after 1:30 am, officers responded to the 1700 block of Chapman Place for a report of a disturbance between two people.

However, when officers arrived on scene they located a person laying in the hallway of a building suffering from an apparent gunshot wound

Emergency Health Services were called to the area and the victim was rushed to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Officers who remained at the scene were able to track down another person in the residence. The person was taken into custody without incident.

The Kelowna RCMP say the two people are familiar with each other and there is no danger to public safety.

An investigation has now been launched and more details are expected to be released in the near future.

Police are asking members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to contact them at (250) 762-3000 and reference file 20223-16229.
