It appears that another large Kelowna retail store will soon be shutting down.

Recently, signs popped up around the Toys “R” Us along Hwy 97 stating that the store is closing and everything must be sold.
The signs add that all stock is reduced in price and that the sale is only for the Kelowna location.
The closure has seemingly come out of nowhere, but Toys “R” Us stores have recently been closing across Canada.
Putman Investments owns Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us Canada and purchased the chain from Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited in 2021.
Fairfax bought the retailer’s Canadian stores in 2018 when its American parent company went insolvent.
At the time of Putman’s acquisition in 2021, there were 81 stores across Canada employing 5,000 people.
A closing date for the large toy store in Kelowna has not been announced.
