The owners of a downtown cocktail lounge are looking for the city’s support in amending their liquor licence so they can stay open later.
On Wednesday, a representative from The Ricco Room submitted an application to make changes to their Liquor Primary Licence.
Located at 1630 Pandosy Street, the cocktail and tapas bar opened in July 2023.
According to the application, the existing licence allows the lounge to be open five days a week.
They are currently open Wednesday and Thursday from 4-10 pm, Friday and Saturday 4 pm to midnight and 4-8 pm on Sunday.
They are looking to change their licence to allow them to operate seven days a week.
Hours of operation for the patio would be seven days a week from 11 am until 11 pm.
The interior would be open Sunday to Thursday 11 am to midnight and until 2 am on Friday and Saturday.
“On weekdays the operation will only be open from 3pm onwards, however it has been recommended we seek liquor service hours starting at 11am in case ownership wishes to expand to include lunch service in the future,” the application says.
The applicants don’t expect the later hours of operation to have an impact on the surrounding neighbourhood.
They say the new hours, if approved, would be “merely creating more consistency throughout the course of the week.”
Kelowna council will be asked to show support for the licence amendment, but the provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch will have the final say.
