Kelowna developer wants to build townhouses, condos at Gallagher's Canyon golf course

Plans for a 21-unit townhouse and 19-unit condo development with a retail component near Gallaghers Canyon have been brought forward to the city's planning department.

Last Thursday, Meiklejohn Architects submitted rezoning and development applications for 4500-4680 Gallaghers Dr.

An Official Community Plan amendment to change the site from Private Recreation to Suburban Multiple Unit is also included in the application package.

The properties are at the edge of The Pinnacle Course at Gallagher’s Canyon.

Currently, the site is zoned as P3 – Parks and Open Space but the developer wants to change that to the MF2 – Townhouse and MF3 – Apartment housing zones.

Architectural plans show that the townhouses would be split into six buildings while the condos would be built in one building.

The condo building would have three one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms and two three-bedroom units.

Thirty five parking stalls would be built for the condo building, which meets the city’s requirements.

As for the townhouses, they would be about two-storeys with a mix of unit types.

Forty seven parking stalls would be provided for this part of the project.

At this time, one variance is included for the condo building. The developer is hoping to get approval to reduce the minimum yard set back from the required 4.5 metres to 1.87 m.

These applications have not been circulated around city hall and the city’s development planning department may require more information before compiling a report for council to consider.
