The need for the Central Okanagan Food Bank has never been greater.
That’s why a Kelowna real estate agency is pledging its support to the Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) over the next three years.
Bruce and Bob Callahan of Callahan Property Group will sponsor the COFB’s fuel costs over that time, with a total contribution of $100,000.
A release from the food bank says the contribution “fuels the engine of compassion” and sustains a lifeline of hope for countless people in the community.
“The food bank tackles situational food insecurity at all demographic levels — from new mothers to children to seniors who are struggling with hunger and faced with a lack of resources to nourish their bodies,” says Marnie Sisson at Callahan Property Group.
“Our city’s population is growing, and as a business community, we must offer our support in whatever capacity we can.”
The COFB’s food rescue program was established in 2018 and operates 364 days a year.
Through partnerships with 18 local grocery partners and farmers, it salvages perishable food and ensures it gets into the hands of people who need it.
The COFB says this new alliance with Callahan Property Group unites them in a mission to nourish bodies and spirits, “turning the tide against hunger and waste.”
