A unique summer event will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Kelowna this year.
The 2024 edition of Le Diner en Blanc is set for Thursday, July 11, and organizers say it will once again be held in a “new secret location.”
If you’re unfamiliar with Le Diner en Blanc, it’s an extravagant white-themed evening of dinner and dancing that begins as the sun is shining and continues under the stars once darkness hits.
“Founded in simple values such as sharing, friendship and meeting new people, Le Diner en Blanc brings together lovers of gastronomy, fashion and spontaneity,” notes a release from organizers.
There’s a level of mystique to the event, as even attendees won’t know where it is until the last minute.
In the past, Le Diner en Blanc has been held at Stuart Park, Father Pandosy Mission and Quails’ Gate Estate Winery.
“As we prepare to welcome guests to the 10th anniversary of Diner en Blanc Okanagan this July, we can hardly contain the excitement,” say hosts Christina Ferreira and Alison Live.
“It’s not just about the elegance and grandeur of the event, but the shared sense of community and celebration that has grown over the years.”
The dress code, as you might expect, is mandatory head-to-toe white. While you’re limited to white-only, guests are encouraged to be elegant and original with their attire.
Attendees will need to bring a table, two white chairs and a white tablecloth, along with a picnic basket that has fine food, proper stemware and white dinnerware.
Catered picnic basket options are available for guests to pick up on site if they don’t wish to pack their own, but you must reserve those in advance.
You will have to reserve your alcohol online as well, with wine and Champagne available as the two options. BC regulations prohibit attendees from bringing their own alcohol, but you can bring non-alcoholic drinks.
