Man tries to sexually assault woman walking along Mission Creek Greenway: RCMP

A woman says an unknown man tried to sexually assault her while she walked in one of Kelowna’s busiest regional parks.

She told police that she was walking along the Mission Creek Greenway late Sunday evening when the incident happened.

The woman said she was on the trail between Leckie and Durnin Roads, by the main Mission Creek Regional Park entrance, when the man grabbed her and attempted to sexually assault her.

She managed to free herself, run away and immediately call police.

“Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and are continuing this investigation,” said Cpl. Michael Gauthier. “The public can expect to see a police presence in the area throughout the day and evening.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, around 50-60 years old, with short grey hair. He was reportedly wearing a gray or white long-sleeve jacket with red colouring on the shoulder area.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
