Over 100 new childcare spots will open 6 storeys above downtown Kelowna

A locally-owned and -operated childcare academy will be opening a unique new location later this year that will bring more than 100 new childcare spots to Kelowna.

ProducKIDvity’s has signed a 15-year lease with Mission Group and Nicola Wealth to become one of the first tenants of The Block on Bernard.

On the sixth floor of the building at Bernard Avenue and St. Paul Street, ProductKIDvity will open a 13,000 sq. ft. childcare facility, which would include a 3,500 sq. ft. enclosed private patio for “outdoor adventures in a safe space.”

It would include more than 100 childcare spots, including highly-sought-after infant childcare and 3-5 preschool programming.

ProductKIDvity has also acquired 4,500 sq. ft. of office space one floor up to provide a flexible co-working space for parents and others.

It’s expected to open in late 2023.

“To say we are excited about this project would be an understatement. We view this as a turning point in our business as the Block will be truly home to the future of Kelowna,” says Alex Carnio, CEO of ProducKIDvity.

“Being able to provide an office tower daycare concept will be the first of its kind in the city and is an exciting opportunity to prove that we are continuing to break the mold of traditional childcare.”

ProducKIDvity’s Block on Bernard location will be open six days a week, the only Kelowna childcare facility to do so, and offer extended hours from 6:30 am until 7 pm each day.

It will also boast a premium meal program, with ingredients sourced locally and meals made from scratch, and valet pick-up and drop-off services.

This will be ProducKIDvity’s third Kelowna location as the childcare academy continues to expand its presence in the city.

They started with their Leon Avenue facility in early 2022 and quickly added to that by purchasing Building Blocks Educare’s space on Sutherland Avenue a few months later.

Registrations for both childcare and office spaces at The Block on Bernard campus are now being accepted and people can apply through the ProducKIDvity website.
