Popular fried chicken chain Popeyes finally opening a Kelowna location

Kelowna residents who drive over the bridge into West Kelowna to get their hands on Popeyes fried chicken will soon have an easier option.

The popular fast-food chain will soon be opening up its first Kelowna location near the corner of Harvey Avenue and Cooper Road, across the street from Orchard Park Mall and Orchard Plaza.

It’s the space that housed a Tim Hortons location for many years.

Unfortunately, we can’t offer too many details at this point other than what can be inferred from the large “coming soon” banner hanging in the doorway.

Inquiries to Restaurant Brands International, the company that owns Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Tim Hortons and Burger King, went ignored today.

It’s unlikely it will open in the imminent future, as the Tim Hortons only had its signage removed recently and renovations are needed to transform the business into a Popeyes.

Surprisingly, Kelowna is the last of the Okanagan’s four largest cities to get a Popeyes, which entered the region via West Kelowna and Penticton in 2019.

The third Popeyes location in the Okanagan then opened in Vernon at the very start of 2022.
