A beloved holiday tradition for Rutland returns today.
The Rutland Winter Light Up is scheduled for 1-4:30 pm at Rutland Centennial Park.
There will be plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy, including photos with Santa Claus and the ability for kids to write and send him letters on-site.
You can also expect hot chocolate and hot cider, food trucks, live entertainment and a market featuring local artisans to help get your holiday shopping started.
Mayor Tom Dyas will light the large community Christmas tree at 4:15 pm.

Christina Ferreira, owner of Impact Events and Brand Management, the company putting on the annual event, says they’re really excited to bring the Winter Light Up to life again this year.
“We’ve expanded the event based on a successful return in 2021 and 2022,” Ferreira explained.
“You'll find more vendors, more food trucks and more live entertainment to take in during this outdoor festival, and it wouldn't be a light up event without us lighting the tree at Rutland Centennial park, where it will stay lit through until the end of December.”
The entire event is outdoors, so attendees are urged to dress according to the weather and be prepared to have a great time no matter the temperature.
