Suspect in weapons call jumped a bus in downtown Kelowna, quickly arrested

A suspect who ditched police officers on a bus in downtown Kelowna was quickly arrested on Friday afternoon.

At about 2:30 pm, officers responded to a possible weapons call in downtown Kelowna.

Police were able to speak with witnesses and use video surveillance from the area to determine the suspect had jumped on a bus leaving the downtown area.

Officers were able to track down the bus and stop it on Bernard Avenue near Highland Drive.

Two individuals were taken into custody without incident.

A release from the RCMp says the bus was searched and continued on its way.

“No further details will be released at this time as police begin their investigation,” Mounties say.
