Construction work is set to begin on Benvoulin Road this weekend.
Beginning Thursday, June 4, City of Kelowna crews will be extending water and sewer infrastructure along Benvoulin and Chamberlain roads to properties that rely on septic systems and wells.
“These upgrades will help protect local water sources and ensure essential services keep pace with growth,” explains a City release.
As a result of the work, Benvoulin Road will be reduced to single-lane traffic in each direction between KLO and Chamberlain roads.
“Access from Benvoulin Road to KLO Road will remain open,” the release notes. “Turning lanes will be shorter to allow for the lane shift.”
The City advises using Gordon Drive as an alternate route, via Casorso and KLO roads, while construction is ongoing.
Crews will be working at the site from 7 am until 5:30 pm on weekdays, but there may be activity outside of those hours to ensure the project is finished on time.
The City thanks the public in advance for their patience while these lane closures are in place and estimates the road will be back to its normal traffic flow by early August.
