It's been years in the making, but Kelowna's newest entertainment venue is open for business at 1383 Ellis St.
The official opening for Revelry Food+Music Hub is tomorrow, but the doors are open and musicians are already taking to the stage.
"It's a place for live music," said manager Ali Lewis.
And the commitment to live music is even greater than you might guess.
"We are dedicated to having at least a minimum of four acts a day," she said. "Live music on stage all the time."
The decor is a reflection of the building's roots as a fruit packinghouse.
There are reflections of that all over and the stage is backed with what looks like rows of apple bins.
"So when people see images from here," said Lewis "They'll know exactly where it is."
The menu is built around Australian-style hand-held pies.
"Both savoury and sweet ones," she explained. "So they're our main staple."
The venue has a capacity of 685 people.
So while it may not attract the kinds of bands that might play at Prospera Place, it can bring in performers that would otherwise not have a place in Kelowna.
"And it means we're able to bring in names that may not have a place to play."
The operators want the facility to help musicians.
They are committed to letting the artists keep all of the proceeds of merchandise they sell on-site.
For now, Revelry is featuring an ever-changing roster of local performers doing one-hour slots.
Check their website in the days ahead to hear about their upcoming ticked events.
