For the first few years, Anarchy Coffee Roasters' beans were all home-roasted, meaning they were literally roasted at home.
The only time you would see them was at the Kelowna Farmers' Market.
But as they grew a following, they secured a location on Baron Rd, and now they have opened their doors as a coffee shop.
Anarchy got its start just as the pandemic was setting in.
But the partnership of Bailey Mitchell and Jesse Nelson persevered, selling their roasts out of a trailer at farmers' markets.
But now, you can enjoy a cup, while the next batch of beans roast at the cafe on Baron Rd.
"We've been slowly chipping away at making this a reality," said Mitchell.
"This has been the dream from the start to have our own place to call home."
Anarchy Coffee has built a reputation around small batch, ethically sourced and locally roasted beans.
Mitchell says the appeal to enjoying coffee at a roastery is just like you see with craft breweries.
"So you can come down here and get the full experience and see where your coffee is actually produced," he said.
"There's something special about going into the same building as where it's created and where you can consume it."
Because so much of the allure of coffee is in the aroma, Mitchell believes it's a natural.
"It's quite aromatic," he said.
"From the roasting process to the different styles of roast and then the flavour in the cup. It all plays a giant role in the experience."
The shop offers baked pastries and toasted sandwiches, all at approachable prices.
The store promises a welcoming place for everyone, with the possible exception of those who aren't so welcoming themselves.
"This is a space for all," reads a sign on the front door.
"Bigots will be roasted."
