There was quite a show of force in Kelowna today, as Emergency Response Teams practiced their responses to various scenarios.
Dozens of well-armed members in their signature green camouflage outfits gathered for a day of training.
They were equipped with rifles, dogs, shields, battering rams and drones.
It all unfolded while people at their desks in a nearby office tower got an eyeful.
A closer look revealed several sandwichboard signs indicating there was no real emergency.
The exercises are all done with no real bullets and quieter, safer versions of the weapons they would use in a real-world scenario.
Area residents, including a daycare across the fence from the action, were notified in advance so they wouldn't be taken by surprise.
Members of the team allowed us to observe and record for a while, but there was at least one stage where they asked us not to record.
There are elements of their strategies that they don't necessarily want to share with the world.
Emergency Response Teams in Kelowna fall under the South East District RCMP umbrella, not the Kelowna Detachment.
