Weeks-long closure on Hwy 33, Ziprick Road begins tomorrow

Anyone who lives in or communities through Rutland should prepare for delays due to a lengthy construction project kicking off on Monday.

From Sept. 25 until the end of October, crews will be working at the intersection of Highway 33 and Ziprick Road.

Construction will see a new “smart right” turn installed, which is meant to create a safer angle for motorists entering and exiting Hwy 33 from Ziprick Road.

Throughout construction, there will be single lane alternating traffic on Ziprick Road at Hwy 33 and people should allow for extra travel time and consider taking alternate routes.

A release form the city says there is potential a full closure, if necessary.

Construction is scheduled to begin at 7 am and end at 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday but there is potential for work outside of these hours to minimize impacts to businesses and local residents.

The city recommends that community members visit kelowna.ca/roadreport to plan their route.
