Council gave the go-ahead for the Wilden Village neighbourhood plans to be passed forward to an upcoming public hearing after giving the first reading of an OCP amendment on Monday.
The amendment being done to the Official Community Plan would allow for the rezoning of the village to include an increase in multi-family and single detached homes, parks and a school site as well as the potential for commercial businesses in the area.
Land to the west of Union Road, between Upper Canyon Drive and Begbie Road, is the target for the new construction as the amendments continue through Council.
Also on Council’s radar was a grant application for a flood mitigation study along Kelowna’s 35-km waterfront.
Council supported the $75,000 grant application, which would examine flood risks and mitigation places for vulnerable shoreline areas.
