Prince George resident praises character of Warriors players

Win or lose, West Kelowna Warriors fans know they’re cheering for a great group of young men.

Their character is constantly on display around the community, but on Thursday night it was showcased beautifully in Prince George.

The Junior A team received a message on Friday that praised the character of the players after they helped make a special night for a five-year-old boy even more special.

It came from the mother of the boy, who made his debut singing the national anthem in front of more than 1,000 people before the game.

“Your young men were first off the bench to come and high-five my little boy and tell him how great he did, every single one of them,” the message from Heather Garfield said.

“Those are some real stand up young men and I thank you from the bottom of this mommy’s heart.”

She added that those young men wearing the Warriors crest are “everything we expect our athletes to be” and deserve the full support of this community.

There’s no better time to support the Warriors, as the team has just a small handful of regular season games left before the playoff run begins.

Although it’s too early to pinpoint the Warriors first round playoff opponent, it looks like they will likely match up against the Penticton Vees, Merritt Centennials or Wenatchee Wild.
