The Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market is spreading the love this weekend.
The second market of the month is celebrating all things Valentine’s Day this afternoon, and as always promoting the #ShopLocal movement.
Attendees can score some love-themed gifts for their special someone as almost every booth has gotten in the spirit.
From heart-shaped handmade mugs, adorable jars of honey topped with a heart covered bow, to organic soaps, body lotions and candles made with love.
Little ones can spend time crafting their own Valentine’s, while parents shop and sample their way through the “Taste of the Market” booths.
Taste of the Market is a weekly recurring tasting program started by the market — it sees market staff create tasty treats using ingredients found only at the market to highlight all the wonderful products being sold.
“ [It] shows that even in the winter time, we still have items to make a delicious meal here at the farmers and crafters market,” said Amanda Farmer, Assistant Market Coordinator.
“It is really important to support your local farmers especially in the winter months because they still have lots of stock,”
According to Farmer, the winter is a great time to focus on root vegetables like potatoes and carrots, of which the market houses an abundance, in addition to the already impressive collection of homemade desserts, fresh meats, vegan alternatives, juices and handcrafted items.
You still have time to pop by the Parkinson Recreation Centre to take it all in, as the market carries on until 1 p.m., before returning to the same spot next weekend from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. again.
