The Kelowna Palette Club has spent part of the weekend dazzling Kelownians with incredible art for an important cause.
The annual Simply Art Show swept through the Laurel Packing House this Friday and Saturday bursting with the creations of over 20 established Okanagan artists.
With over 100 works of art on display, the event highlighted a wide variety of styles from abstract to realism in an array of mediums.
In addition to showcasing the stunning works, the event had a philanthropic twist as it donated proceeds from the auction, which include eight paintings, and sales of the art to JoeAnna’s House.
“We have always had a different charity that we donated to for years, but we just wanted to give back to the community and the kids this time,” said chairperson of the event Jetta Williams.
Prior to the end of the event, Williams had estimated the club has already managed to raise around $700 for the cause.
“It has been really good, pretty busy and steady throughout the weekend,” said Williams.
“We had quite a crowd last night, the paintings are selling and we already have plans to be back again in May 2020.”
Not only will the artists be helping to contribute to JoeAnna’s House through a monetary donation, many of them will also have their artwork displayed throughout the building once it is completed.
The Simply Art Show is scheduled to return again on May 16, 2020 for another round of fundraising through art.
