A team from the Central Okanagan has joined the search for a missing 83-year-old man.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) sent its dog team to the Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park area on the weekend to help look for Robert Lee Baines.
Baines, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was last seen at his home in Coldstream on Jan. 2.
Last week, the RCMP asked residents to look for Baines under their porches and inside bushes.
"We appreciate this community support in giving our dogs space to work in the park on a busy weekend," COSAR dog handler Terry Downs said on Saturday.
COSAR added that dog teams are an “essential resource during extended search and rescue operations.”
The COSAR dog team worked with ground teams from Shuswap and Vernon, as well as another dog team from Kaslo, during the search on Saturday.
Unfortunately, they had no positive news about Baines to announce.
