John Michael Aronson has been arrested in Peachland, six days after the RCMP issued a public warning about him.
He was apprehended shortly before noon today after a member of the public reported that two people appeared to be passed out in a vehicle in Peachland.
The West Kelowna RCMP officer who attended the scene immediately recognized the man in the driver’s seat as Aronson.
He and the woman in the passenger’s seat were both arrested and are being held in custody in Kelowna while awaiting a court appearance.
“The officer, along with a member of the public who made the initial report, took a very dangerous individual off our streets and for that we are extremely grateful,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.
The 35-year-old with a lengthy criminal history became subject of the police warning on Feb. 3 after he cut off his monitoring device and fled a halfway house in Surrey.
Police warned that Aronson was likely heading back to the Central Okanagan and had an unendorsed warrant out for his arrest.
They added that he was considered dangerous and should not be approached.
