Nearly eight kilometres of trails have been added to a large trail network in the North Okanagan.
That includes a 6.3 kilometre multi-use loop trail in the Coldstream area and a one kilometre link to the Grey Canal Trail lands, which were acquired in January.
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) says the newly established Coldstream Ranchland property is a 126 hectare natural space that will host the multi-use loop trail.

The loop trail is located on the property’s perimeter and the west side doubles as a purpose-built mountain bike climbing trail that access crown lands, which is set to become the future multi-use Vernon Hill trail network.
“We are excited to see the Coldstream Ranchlands Trail officially open to the public, offering residents and visitors a beautiful and accessible outdoor space to explore,” said Bob Fleming, director for RDNO Electoral Area B.
“We look forward to seeing the community enjoy this natural space while ensuring its preservation for the future.”

The RDNO says the Coldstream Ranchlands Trail provides a user-friendly climb trail for hikers, bikers and trail runners on the west side.
Meanwhile, the east side provides a more challenging trail with a scenic and adventurous route, the RDNO says.
The centre of the Coldstream Ranchlands Trail remains undeveloped and people are asked to stick to designated trails to protect the sensitive ecosystem.
Parking is available on Ravine Drive and the RDNO reminds people the access road to the parking lot and trails is for public non-motorized use only.
