With live music, theatre, dance, workshops and activities for the whole family, the second annual Ignite the Arts Festival Weekend is set to run from March 31 to April 2.
Several downtown venues including Dream Cafe, Tempest Theatre, Elk’s Hall, Cannery Brewing and Brit Bar will play host to a lineup of over 50 musical acts playing folk, rock, reggae, electronica and hip hop.
The festival will kick off with a parade featuring the 12-piece brass band, Balkan Shmalkan, following Ignite the Arts Community Week from March 24 to 30.
Other show-stoppers include Digging Roots, Selina Martin, Blackberry Wood, Forrest Mortifee, The Spiritual Warriors, Brandon Wolfe Scott, Yukon Blonde, Wax Mannequin, Carolyn Mark, The Melawmen Collective, Justin Glibbery Quintet, Loon Town and Corwin Fox.
Tickets for the festival are $125 plus GST for the weekend and include a $15 voucher to spend on artist merchandise or at local venues.
Youth tickets are $25 for ages 13-18, and kids under 12 get in for free.
Ignite the Arts is a project of the Penticton Arts Gallery. It receives funding support from the City of Penticton, Visit Penticton, Province of BC, Creative BC, Community Foundation of the South Okanagan and Penticton’s Sunrise and Rotary Clubs.
