April 11, 2022, Kelowna, British Columbia — In a strategic move this year, Okanagan business leader Emil Anderson Group announced the decision to expand the reach of its commercial division, Gerry Enns Contracting into the Okanagan Valley. The decision signals the creation of a provincial banner and a client-focused level of expectation for commercial construction.
The ability to deliver client-focused, quality construction projects have been the credo and a longstanding way of life for Gerry Enns Contracting. For more than 35 years, it’s been the foundation behind some of the most innovative commercial, industrial and residential projects in the Fraser Valley, and the cement that binds the company’s hard-earned reputation.
“Our plans for expansion are well-timed and strategic,” says Robert Hasell, President and CEO. “We are highly invested in the communities where we build and the relationships that we’ve built along the way. The Okanagan will benefit from a commercial contractor with the level of experience that Gerry Enns Contracting brings.”
Comprised of a team of home-grown construction professionals, each with an impressive portfolio of projects, the Gerry Enns Contracting – Okanagan Division joins a larger team of powerhouse construction professionals within the Emil Anderson Group, including: Emil Anderson Construction, Emil Anderson Maintenance, Emil Anderson Equipment, Emil Anderson Properties, Dilworth Homes and Ballina Contracting.
“Our business structure is vertically integrated by design,” says Hasell. “It allows us to work collaboratively, mitigate risk, operate efficiently and deliver on a vision that far exceeds the needs of our clients.”
With commercial projects currently underway in both Armstrong and Kelowna, Gerry Enns Contracting is already off to a strong start in the Okanagan Valley. In Kelowna, the construction of a 4-storey, 20,000 square foot mixed-use building is the first of its kind to combine zoning for commercial, residential and light industrial in the downtown core. It currently features a large aircraft electronics manufacturer on the lower portion of the building, with offices up above and seven residential rental homes on the 4th-floor rooftop terrace.
A second commercial project in Armstrong, BC features a drive-through franchise, a series of three 1200 square foot commercial spaces and a larger built-to-suit development parcel. As its namesake may imply, Southgate Crossing is strategically situated to attract north and southbound traffic on Highway 97.
