Michaud remains in hospital in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery. Supt. Brad Mueller held a press conference at 4:30 p.m. in Kamloops to update the public on the situation. Residents who were restricted from the Bachelor Heights area are now able to return home and those who were evacuated will be notified once they are able to return to their homes as well.

At around 3:30 p.m. a 36 year old man was arrested without incident in relation to the shooting, confirmed Mueller.

“I can’t tell you the impact this has had on our community, we’ve received message of support from all across the country,” said Mueller. “We’re confident that we’ve arrested one suspect and our information leads us to believe that we have a suspect in custody that was involved in the incident.”

No charges have been laid at this time but the suspect remains in custody. Mueller said that during the investigation a number of people were interviewed and the suspect is known to police.

“He has previous police involvement,” added Mueller and the man was arrested in the Bachelor Heights area where the initial shooting took place. Mueller also said that the suspect was injured at some point so the Independent Investigations Office has taken over the case.
