A fire burning near Rock Creek has caused an evacuation alert to be put into effect.
The fire is at Zamora near Westbridge, about 11 km north of Rock Creek. Discovered on Sunday, the fire has since grown to 26 hectares from 15 hectares on Sunday night and remains 0 per cent contained. This blaze is an interface fire, and an evacuation alert by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is in effect for three homes, affecting 10 people.

The wildfire is highly visible from Highway 33, and DriveBC has warned that there’s no stopping or pulling over. As of 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon, no road closures had been put into effect.
The BC Wildfire Management Branch has 21 firefighters at the scene, as well as two helicopters, three pieces of heavy equipment, and one airtanker.
The Westbridge fire was caused by lightning, as were seven other fires within the Boundary Fire Zone.
