After several days of living in the dark, power to residents in Beaverdell has been restored.
According to FortisBC Communications Spokesperson Nicole Bogdanovic, parts of Beaverdell were back up and running on Saturday, with the remaining customers regaining power on Sunday.
The lights have also been turned on for customers in Christian Valley and power was restored to parts of Rock Creek on Friday.

Although power is back up and running, most of the customers in the Rock Creek fire region are currently running on generators and are advised to use power sparingly.

As of Tuesday, August 18th, FortisBC is working to fix about 70 power lines between Westbridge and Rock Creek.

In terms of restoration, the company will start on the Rock Creek end and move their way up toward Westbridge; however, Bogdanovic said it will most likely be another two weeks until residents affected by the Rock Creek fire have their power fully restored without the use of generators.
“We are working hard to get people back online as quickly as possible,” said Bogdanovic.

In addition, there has been some concern regarding hydro bills during this turbulent time. If you have any concerns about your FortisBC bill, Bogdanovic said to give the company a call and they will help to sort it out.
“We’ve seen the devastation out there and we can only imagine what those customers are faced with right now, and their electricity bill should be the least of their worries,” added Bogdanovic.
