Sharon Fraser will never forget her breakfast on Feb. 24, 2024.
The food and company wasn’t any different than usual, as she ate it at the breakfast table alongside her husband and son.
It was the circumstances that were memorable, as it was when the Ucluelet resident discovered she had won a whopping $18-million Lotto Max jackpot from the previous night’s draw.
“Every Saturday morning, I check the [Lotto Max] results,” Fraser explained. “I thought it was a free play and said, ‘they’ve made a mistake.’ I called customer support and they verified everything!”
Once she was certain that the life-changing win was not a mistake, she shared the news with her husband and children.
“The kids were in disbelief at first,” she said.
Fraser adds that the win is exciting and, as retirees, she and her husband no longer have to worry about financial stresses.
“It’s also going to provide security for my children,” she pointed out.
While Fraser is in no rush to make plans, she is an avid sailor and wants to take more trips on her sailboat with destinations in the south being her top picks.
In addition, she plans on buying property and a new car with her windfall.
