A portion of Ellis Street will be closed for four days over the next two weeks to accommodate the removal of a crane.
The crane has been used to build ELLA, a 20-storey tower that has popped up on the corner of Ellis Street and Lawrence Avenue.
While the crane is being dismantled removed, Ellis Street will be closed between Lawrence Avenue and Bernard Avenue.
The work is expected to take place from Monday, Aug. 26 until Wednesday, Aug. 28, and the same stretch of road will also be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
In addition, the right lane of Lawrence Avenue will be closed between 5 am and 6 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
“The crane removal marks another milestone for growth and development in downtown Kelowna,” says a release from the City of Kelowna.
“Construction on the Ellis Street development began in early 2018 and is expected to be completed next year.”
Businesses in the area will remain open during the closure and parking is available in the nearby Chapman Parkade.
