Hwy 97 closure happening north of Summerland on Saturday

Another planned closure is happening on Highway 97 north of Summerland on Saturday.

AIM Roads, the contractor in charge of remediation work, is advising motorists that the highway will be closed between Callan road and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park.

The 90-minute closure begins at 11 am and will open at 12:30 pm.

As usual, the closure is to allow crews to do blasting and cleanup work at the site of the landslide that happened in August.

“The highway will be closed to all traffic during these times and will be opened as soon as the work and safety assessments are completed,” AIM Roads says in a social media post.

Besides the 90-minute closure, anyone who travels between the Central and South Okanagan should prepare for unannounced closures of 15-20 minutes through the area.
