UPDATE: Hwy 33 reopened after multi-vehicle crash

(UPDATE: Feb. 10 @ 11:00 am) - Hwy 33 is now open in both directions following an early morning multi-vehicle incident in the Joe Rich area.

Drivers are asked to watch out for crews and equipment as work to clean up the scene continues.

(Original story: Feb. 10 @ 7:30 am) -A multi-vehicle crash has closed Hwy 33 in between Peregrine Road and Philpot Road in the Joe Rich area this morning.

Just before 1 am, Kelowna RCMP received a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles.

“Due to the severity of this collision and the ongoing investigation, the RCMP are advising that Hwy 33 has been closed in both directions until this part of the investigation has been concluded,” writes Const. Mike Della-Paolera.

Police are asking those who must travel to Rock Creek to use Hwy 97 and travel through Osoyoos until further notice.

A 90-minute closure of Hwy 97 is scheduled to take place north of Summerland from 11 am to 12:30 pm today.
