VIDEO: Okanagan Tattoo Show returns for year 7

Get ready tattoo, live music and beer lovers, the Okanagan Tattoo Show is back for its seventh year!

Hosted at the Kelowna Curling Club, the event will house nearly 200 tattoo artists from across Canada, North America, New Zealand and even China — giving you a unique opportunity to add to your body’s art collection.

“[Tattooing] may seem expensive but really it is one of the most affordable types of fine art,” said co-organizer Rob Jobe.

“You can buy a piece of fine art and stick it on your wall, but not all of us can afford that— whereas with a tattoo you get incredible artists like the ones here at the show to tattoo you and you get to wear it and express your individuality a little bit,” he added.

If you’re in the mood to get poked in the name of art, the tattoo show offers up an easy way to make that happen.

“A lot of these artists come prepared with art on the table for you and if you like it, don't be shy – just ask!” said Jobe.

If you’d rather get ahead of the crowds or secure your spot before attending, you can coordinate with the artists by finding their contact information through the event’s website.

If pain is not your game, don’t worry! There are still a number of activities to take part in at the three-day festival.

Beer-connoisseurs can enjoy the craft creations of 11 different breweries like Lighthouse Brewing Co., while cocktail lovers can enjoy some refreshing sips from Simps. And if you feel peckish, there are six local food trucks on-site to appease your rumbling belly.

Another bonus to the event is the fact that the entire thing is family-friendly! Teach your little ones early on about the niche and fascinating art of tattooing all the while spending some quality time together.

Aside from the radness mentioned above, the Tattoo Show is also the perfect place for any music fanatic to spend their weekend. 15 Bands from around Canada and the US will be tearing up the 30ft stage, melting each face that passes by.

Each night of the event is broken up into genre’s with Friday being dedicated to all things punk featuring Bad Cop, Bad Cop; Saturday is for stoner-rock with Vancouver’s Black Wizard set to headline while Sunday is dedicated to Canadiana-rock with special guests The Motorleague.
