The Thai Fusion restaurant in West Kelowna is closing its doors for good following multiple acts of vandalism that threaten the safety of customers and staff.
The Thai Fusion located along Louie Drive announced the decision in a statement posted to their Facebook Page.
“After much thought and discussion, we have decided that it is time we close our doors for good. We do this with a heavy heart and no small amount of apprehension, but the time has come, after so many attacks of vandalism, for us to make a concrete decision,” read the statement on their Facebook page.
“We apologise for how abrupt this must feel and ask for your understanding, something we know you have infinite amounts of. The attacks on our restaurant have merely grown so steadily that, at this point, we cannot and will not risk the safety of our wonderful customers or staff.”
The announcement was issued a day after the restaurant was shot up with bullets.
The restaurant has survived through two years of increasingly violent attacks, with the Thai business being subject to more than five separate complaints of mischief and a break and enter to commit arson.
However, despite the unfortunate announcement, the restaurant staff is still thankful for all the support and kindness offered by customers.
“We want to thank you, sincerely and from the bottom of our hearts, for all your support, kindness, and love. It was each and every one of you, both regulars and those simply willing to give us a try, who allowed us to run a restaurant we were exceedingly proud of. It is your faces we will miss seeing most of all, at least on such a regular basis.”
