Go big or go home and the Kelowna Rockets for sure went big today as they selected a 6’6”, nearly 200-pound defenceman ninth overall.
With their first pick of the draft, the Rockets chose Owen Hayden from the Calgary NWCAA U15 AAA Flames.

Originally slated to select fourth overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, the Rockets traded down the draft board with the Prince Albert Raiders.
In exchange for the fourth pick, the Rockets acquired the ninth and 57th overall picks this year and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

The 2009-born draftee appeared in 31 games this season for the Flames, tallying one goal and 24 assists.
Hayden joins Colton Lien and Drew Larioza as the latest skaters to be selected by the Kelowna Rockets.
