A six-stroke victory in Chilliwack earned the UBC Okanagan Heat a PacWest Conference provincial women’s golf title on the weekend.

They’ll be joined by the top four PacWest men’s teams, including the UBC Heat foursome of James Casorso, Grant Dollevoet, Oliver Rizun and Jacob Stewart, who combined to place fourth at the provincial tournament and third overall this season.

Individually, it was Hannah Dirksen of UFV who claimed the women’s season title with a four-stroke win over UBCO’s Lee after four tournaments. Siemers was another 12 strokes back for third place overall on the season.

Dirksen — chosen the PacWest player of the year — led the field of only six golfers by shooting rounds of 83 and 76 at the CGCC. Her 159 total was three strokes better than Heat rookie and PacWest all-star, Seimers (80-82—162), a graduate of Mt. Boucherie Secondary School. Adams (Ladysmith, B.C.) of the Heat was third overall on the weekend with rounds of 86 and 78, while Lee, another PacWest all-star, was fourth at 168 (87-81).

The Camosun College Chargers claimed provincial gold with a four-tournament total of 2,318.

Casorso, winner of the first PacWest tournament of the season at the Okanagan Golf Club, earned an conference all-star selection for his fourth-place finish overall.

The Immaculata High School grad posted a four-tournament total of 580, just three strokes back of bronze medalist, Steven Hayes of Douglas. Camousun’s Brady Stead of Vernon, selected the player of the year, claimed the PacWest individual gold with a 572 season total.

Stead finished in a tie for third place with Cody Stewart of UFV on the weekend, carding a pair of 72s in Chilliwack. That was four strokes back of winner Connor O’Dell of UFV and two strokes better than the UBCO pair of Casorso (75-71) and Jacob Stewart of Calgary (75-71).

Rizon (Squamish) finished in 22nd place with a two-day total of 162 (76-86), while Dollevoet (Lake Country) came in at 26th (86-80—166) to round out the UBCO scoring.
