Slovenia is making history with the release of its new flying car.
For just over $1 million dollars, you can have a taste of the Jetsons experience in the Slovenian-made AeroMobil.
The AeroMobil was released at the Top Marques show in Monaco on Thursday. While a prototype of the AeroMobil was released in 2014, the company is now taking pre-orders with an anticipated delivery date of 2020.
With a top speed of 160 kilometres per hour and an aerospace max cruise range of 750 kilometres at 75 per cent, AeroMobil says its managed to combine “a luxury sports car and a light aircraft in a single vehicle.”
On top of that, the car transforms into flight mode in less than three minutes and boasts a 350 horse power engine.
CEO of AeroMobil, Juraj Vaculik, says the goal is to significantly reduce the cost of the flying car by improving the design.
“This approach is being warmly received by investors and we are delighted to have recently received latest investment from Patrick Hessel, recognized expert in this field,” said Vaculik.
But in order to reach their goal, Vaculik is looking for more investors to help scale down the design.
“In the coming months we will be looking for additional investors who can contribute to our disruptive approach and further strengthen our position ourselves at the forefront of the evolving flying car industry," he said.
The AeroMobil will be taking pre-orders at the Top Marques show with a first production limited to 500 units priced between $1.2 million to $1.5 million Euros. The first flying cars are expected to reach customers by 2020.
