There's Still a Chance for a White Christmas

Our chances of enjoying a true winter wonderland are looking rather bleak at the moment, but according to Environment Canada, past weather patterns for the Okanagan suggest there might be a chance we'll be making snow angles on the 25th.

Meteorologist Jennifer Hay, found that from 1961 until 2013, 37 out of the 53 winters in Kelowna saw snow on the ground over the holidays. Based on those statistics, there is a 70 per cent chance that citizens will wake up to the white stuff on Christmas morning.

Statistics aside, predictions over the next week aren't looking so promising. According to Environment Canada, Kelowna will see a high percentage of precipitation over the weekend. With temperatures climbing to a high of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, the precipitation will most likely fall as rain.

Christmas eve is calling for a 60 per cent chance of precipitation in the form of snow fall, however; with the temperature high predicted to be one degree Celsius, it seems there is a slim chance snow will actually stick around if it is to fall over Christmas.
