Pair of nearly 80-year-old BC Interior weather records broken

As it begins to look a little more like spring each day, a pair of communities in the BC Interior were setting new weather records on Friday.

Both Vernon and Salmon Arm broke records that were previously set 77 years ago on Feb. 23.

In Salmon Arm, the previous high on Feb. 23 was 11.1℃, with the new mark being set at 11.6℃.

In Vernon, the previous benchmark was 11.7℃ and the new high is more than a degree warmer at 12.9℃.

The area of Lytton also saw some warm weather yesterday as it tied a record of 14.4℃, which was also set in 1947.

While these areas saw glimpses of spring, nearby highways are currently under winter storm warnings, which are expected to clear up sometime Sunday.
