The dedicated team at Rutland Waterworks works tirelessly to oversee installations, inspections, and repairs of the water system, as well as manage pumping and chlorination operations that meet rigorous health standards.

Rutland Waterworks invites applications for the role of Water Distribution Manager of Works. This position is an excellent chance to lead a skilled team while playing a vital role in community health and infrastructure.

Responsibilities of the Work:

  • The manager is responsible for the supervision, management, and training of four outside personnel.
  • The manager supervises:
    • The installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of a water distribution system
    • The operation and maintenance of the pumping/booster stations to ensure water meets standards of purity
    • The maintenance of the chlorination facilities and its tests and reviews
    • Collecting of water samples
    • Pumping operation and distribution system
    • Water pumping and consumption data
    • The compilation of data on quarterly meter readings
  • Read and interpret piping and construction drawings and prepare quotes, lab level and flow results, recording devices, and general water utility instrumentation
  • Determine the equipment, tools, manpower, and materials required to complete assigned projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Supervisor experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SCADA monitoring systems
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water systems and applicable government regulations
  • Preferably experience working with local government
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with contractors, developers, applicable regulating agencies, staff, and the general public
  • Familiarity with the accident and safety precautions of the trade
  • Valid British Columbia Driver’s license
  • Bondable

Education:

  • Grade 12 education, plus Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) Level III in Water Distribution.
  • 5 years’ operating experience in a Class III water distribution system (groundwater preferably)
  • Confined Space Entry Training
  • Chlorine Handling Certificate
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1
