These 15 sections of highway in the southern BC Interior will get a facelift this summer

It’s roadwork season on British Columbia’s highways!

You may not like it when you’re forced to stop or slow down for a few minutes en route to your favourite camping spot, but it’s important work to preserve the health of major routes.

The Ministry of Transportation and Transit says crews have already begun resurfacing 500 kilometres of highways and side roads in the southern BC Interior.

The work represents a nearly $150-million investment that the Ministry says will ensure travellers “continue to have a safe and comfortable driving experience.”

Here’s a full list of the 15 major resurfacing projects that are expected to be completed by October:

  • Hwy 1 Monte Creek to Hoffman's Bluff (18.1 km)
  • Hwy 1 Crazy Creek to Revelstoke (29.5 km)
  • Hwy 1 Quartz to Glacier and Golden Area side roads (31.5 km)
  • Hwy 1/97 Venables Valley Road to Highway 99 junction (27.1 km)
  • Hwy 3 Elko to Fernie intermittent (10.2 km)
  • Hwy 3 Kootenay Pass to Summit Creek Bridge (28 km)
  • Hwy 3 Princeton to Stirling Bridge intermittent and Princeton-Summerland Road (45.7 km)
  • Hwy 3 Paulson Brake Check to Sheep Creek Chain Up and Robson side roads (30.2 km)
  • Hwy 5 Snowshed Hill, Henning to Larson Hill and Coldwater Road (50.6 km)
  • Hwy 5 CN Junction Road to Rayleigh and Inks Lake Hill northbound (27.3 km)
  • Hwy 6 Needles to Deep Creek (26.4 km)
  • Hwy 97 Lac la Hache area, and area side roads (61 km)
  • Hwy 97 Clinton to 83 Mile House (45.5 km)
  • Hwy 97 Woodpecker to Stoner (11.5 km)
  • Chase-Falkland Road (28.7 km)
