European-inspired ‘destination day spa’ to be built along Kelowna waterfront

Kelowna will soon be getting a new and exciting wellness option that could save you an overnight trip to Sparkling Hill.

Developer Rav Soomal officially announced plans today to create "the Okanagan’s first true destination day spa.”

It will be built in one of Kelowna’s most exciting new developments, Aqua Waterfront Village, in a beachfront location that will offer sweeping views of Okanagan Lake.

Soomal says it’s motivated by world-class wellness resorts like Vernon’s Sparkling Hill, a European-inspired retreat designed with day access in mind rather than an overnight stay.

“This is about bringing something entirely new to the Okanagan,” Soomal explained. "An immersive wellness experience that’s accessible, elevated and unforgettable.”

The spa will take over two floors beneath Aqua’s pool deck and offer a range of luxurious amenities framed by 25-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows.

Those amenities include seven distinct sauna and steam experiences, a trio of plunge pools, a snow room and serene relaxation areas.

According to Soomal, Aqua was the clear choice for this project after a two-year search and he expects the waterfront location to truly set it apart.

He says guests will be able to step directly from the spa onto the sandy beach, either to rejuvenate themselves with a lake cold plunge in the winter or bask in the Okanagan sun during the summer.

“This will be a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to the Okanagan,” Soomal added, calling it an indoor-outdoor connection rarely found anywhere in North America.

“Whether it’s bachelorette groups, couples or a first date, this is the kind of bucket-list experience that people will build a trip around.”

But this destination day spa won’t just be for tourists, as Soomal believes it will be an incredible amenity for Kelowna residents to enjoy.

“This will be a trophy amenity for the community, something we can all be proud of,” he noted.

More details are expected to be unveiled on the project as it moves forward, with construction anticipated to begin in early 2026.

It’s the latest exciting tourism-related development from Soomal and his family, who have more than 40 years of experience in development and hospitality.

Soomal, inspired by outside-the-box thinking, was the developer behind the Golden Skybridge, which opened to much fanfare in 2021 and was recently featured on The Amazing Race Canada.
