It has now been more than two months since Robert Lee Baines was last seen.
As the search for the 83-year-old Vernon resident enters its third month, the RCMP is making another appeal to the public for help locating the missing senior.
“Some time has passed since Baines was reported missing and we are issuing this information again to remind the public that he has not been found,” an RCMP release said.
Baines, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was reported missing on Tuesday, Jan. 2, and was last seen by his family on Ponderosa Way in Coldstream, noted a reminder from the RCMP.
In the days that followed, both police and search and rescue members combed the Coldstream area in hopes of finding Baines.
The RCMP even urged local residents to look under their porches and inside bushes on their property for the 83-year-old.
“An extensive search was conducted in his neighbourhood, Kalamalka Park and on Kalamalka Lake without any success,” explained the RCMP release.
“With spring approaching, more people will be frequenting these areas and we’d like to remind the public to keep an eye out for anything that might help us find him.”
Baines was last seen wearing a green Tilley hat, green jacket, a grey Stanfields sweater, blue jeans and brown Merrell hiking boots.
According to police, he is 6’0” and 221 lbs with a bald head and brown eyes.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators in the search for Baines is urged to contact the local police as soon as possible.
